Faded Bond
Friendship can often be a blessing in disguise. It is a remarkable journey where we share laughter and ignorance, leaving us with valuable lessons. The first encounter, forming a close bound, the uneasy feelings in the bound, and ultimately the closure of the bond - these are the things that depict how a friendship starts and ends in my perspective.
Another crumpled piece of paper was thrown onto the growing piles of paper. I groaned in frustration and messaged my head. I have been trying to write an essay for my assignment for a while but couldn't find the motivation to start writing.
"Why do I not have any ideas?" I questioned myself before I got lost in my thoughts.
The first encounter was like a chapter in a novel, filled with excitement and curiosity. A few years ago in my new elementary school, I approached a group of girls during lunch, hoping to make friends. Unfortunately, they turned out to be mean, mocking me for being alone. That's when a girl intervened and defended me. I admired for her courage and soon we became friends. The newfound friendship brought me joy and I was filled with excitement to go to school.
Forming a closer bound was like weaving the threads of connection. As, days turned into weeks, weeks into months and months into years, our friendship grew stronger, eventually making us best friends. We knew everything about each other, our favourite movies even our favourite shoes, we used to call each other every night and talk about songs, poetry and everything we liked. She was the beacon in my darkest moments, always wearing a smile to brighten my day. took pride in my achievement and encouraged me to read and write. She was the perfect definition of a true friend.
The uneasy feelings in the bond felt like the fading of colour. The first sign of change was our conversations became shorter and less frequent, we used to talk to each other and hangout very rarely. A delicate thread was holding us. I was concerned. Had I done something wrong to upset her? Had I unintentionally hurt her feelings? I reached out for an explanation but my inquiries was met with silence.
The closure of the bond was like an unsatisfying final chapter of a novel. As days turned into weeks and months. I helplessly watched her drifted further away. She completely stopped talking to me and it seemed like she had a new life that I was no longer a part of. To me we went from best friends to strangers, it was weird how time changed us, but maybe to her our friendship had gone as far as it could. We were overdue.
I snapped out of my thoughts as I stared at the blank piece of paper in front of me. I exhaled a deep breath and reach for a pen. A multiple thoughts flooded in me but I only focused on one in particular.
"Maybe it's time to let go." I said with a heavy heart.
